Hiring Stages allow your agency to manage different parts of your recruiting process directly inside Augusta.
Inside your Interviews settings, you can turn ON or OFF three hiring stages based on your agency’s workflow:

- Orientation
Each stage supports a different part of your recruiting process. The goal is to help your team keep applicant scheduling, reminders, reschedules, cancellations, and meeting outcomes centralized inside Augusta.

Augusta’s Recommended Setup
For most agencies, we recommend:
Interview Stage: ON
Orientation Stage: ON
Screening Stage: OFF, unless operationally necessary
Why?
The faster qualified applicants can book their official interview, the better your hiring outcomes will typically be.
Adding additional steps to your hiring process can increase applicant drop-off if not managed carefully.
That said, Screening stages can be extremely valuable for agencies that truly need additional vetting before official interviews.
Screening Stage
The Screening stage adds an initial screening meeting before an applicant books their official interview.
This is commonly used for:
- RN, LPN/LVN, CNA, CHHA, or other credential-heavy hiring
- Recruit live-in caregivers
- Serve large geographic areas
- Need to verify applicant information before official interviews
Screenings are typically:
- Phone calls
- Video calls
- Quick introductory meetings
Important Considerations
Screening adds another step to your recruiting process.
This means:
- More recruiter coordination
- More scheduling
- Higher applicant drop-off risk
Because of this, we only recommend Screening when it is operationally necessary for your agency.
Interview Stage
The Interview stage is Augusta’s primary hiring workflow and what we recommend for most agencies.
With this stage enabled, qualified applicants can automatically book their official interview immediately after submitting their Augusta application.
Interview stages can support:
- In-person interviews
- Video interviews
- Phone interviews
Why We Recommend Automated Interview Booking
Speed matters. Applicants booked for their official interview shortly after applying are significantly more likely to:
- Show up
- Stay engaged
- Get hired
For most agencies, we strongly recommend allowing qualified applicants to automatically book interviews and bypass any screening.
Orientation Stage
The Orientation stage allows recruiters to schedule orientations directly through Augusta after deciding to move forward with an applicant.
Unlike the Screening or Interview stages, applicants are NOT automatically invited to orientations. Recruiters manually book orientations on behalf of applicants after completing the interview process.
This helps agencies keep:
- Orientation scheduling
- Reminder messaging
- Calendar syncing
- Reschedules/cancellations
- Applicant status tracking
all centralized inside Augusta.
What the orientation includes is fully up to your agency’s workflow and can be explained to applicants in your Orientation meeting description.
